The Art Program at St. Philomena School provides
a weekly class for Grades 1-8. Additional craft
classes are offered to Grades 5-8 during the
Wednesday elective period. In an effort to expand
involvement with three-dimensional media, a
sculpture elective class was developed. Grades
K-8 also incorporate art experiences within
the context of the regular classroom.
Independent learning and responsibility are
encouraged. The visual arts arena promotes the
development of independent thought in the conceptualization
of ideas and feelings, and their expression
in original, creative works of art.
Each year the school takes pride in an end-of-the-year
exhibit of student art. This has been a major
attraction as part of the annual Spring Concert
and Arts Festival, which allows family, friends,
and others to view each student's visual voice
which validates each student as an artist. Student
artwork is also displayed throughout the school
during the year, bringing the walls to life
and showing the energy and talent in all students.
