Rooted in our mission as a Catholic School of the Sacred Heart, our school supports the whole child: heart, mind, body and spirit. Each child is a unique and special gift to all of us, created by a loving God who sends them on a mission to use their gifts and talents to make our world a better place. Our student life team works to help ensure we attend to the many aspects of growing up and learning at our school through campus ministry, student health, guidance, and academic support.
At Saint Philomena School, we believe in fostering a supporting and enriching environment for our students, both inside and outside the classroom. Our dedicated Student Life Team plays a crucial role in ensuring the well-being, personal development and success of every student. Let's introduce you to the key members of this dynamic team.
Dean of Student Life
Mary Palazzolo is a passionate advocate for student success. With a wealth of experience in educational leadership, Mary oversees various aspects of student life including coordinating special education services with the local school districts and teaching the Grades 6-8 Sophie Barat Program, which provides enhanced academic assistance and instruction in executive functioning skills to small groups of students. She is committed to creating a positive and inclusive school culture where every student feels valued, supported, and equipped to succeed.
School Nurses
Leslea Mello and Kitsy Vane, our school nurses, are here to make sure that all of our students are well and safe. Leslea and Kitsy will be on hand to provide medical aid, handle health concerns, administer prescriptions, manage health records and provide counsel on keeping a healthy lifestyle due to their considerable knowledge and compassionate demeanor.
Kitsy also acts as our Student Support Coordinator. She works as a liaison with our two partner agencies and helps guide families and students who need outside services, one-on-one consults.
School Counselor
Mackenzie Cottrell is a valuable resource for both employees and students. She assists students in navigating their academic, personal, and emotional journeys by providing advice and support. Currently, Mackenzie's concentration is on small group workshops that support mental health and emotional development rather than regular or scheduled one-on-one counseling sessions. Mackenzie also teaches Social and Emotional Learning to all middle school students.
The Student Life Team at Saint Philomena school collaborates closely to create a nurturing and vibrant community. By fostering a positive school culture, providing essential health services, and offering guidance and support, we strive to create an environment where every student can thrive academically, emotionally and socially.
Feel free to reach out to any member of the Student Life Team if you have any questions, concerns, or if you simply want to connect. We are here to support and guide our students on their journey towards success.
